I am a University of Guelph alumni, I have a degree in Computer Science, and a passion for learning. I have worked at Zebra Robotics for over 3 years. I mostly work out of the Milton, ON, Canada location but I can sometimes be found at the Mississauga, ON, Canada location or teaching online classes. I have lived in Milton for the last 10 years, in fact my passion for programming started here in my high school. Now I try to do my best to help others find their passion in programming. In my spare time I like to watch movies, old cartoons, and make games in different programming languages. My favorite programming languages (in order) are C, Java, Python.



Ben Layko

Coding/Robotics Coach


I am currently a Junior working toward my undergraduate degree in computer science at North Carolina State University. I have worked at Zebra Robotics in Cary for a little over a year teaching both Lego robotics and programming courses in Python, JavaScript, and web design. I love teaching kids about programming starting with the basics and helping them understand more and more complex concepts. I am hoping to inspire the next generation of computer scientists and give them a head start in learning different STEM topics. In my free time I love to watch movies, run, and cook.

I am currently a University of Guelph student on the track to get my master’s in Computer Science. You will mostly see me at the Mississauga center teaching coding, but some of my other hobbies include painting, drawing, and music. I love working at Zebra Robotics because it allows me to not only share my love of programming with my students but also teach them important problem-solving skills that will help them with all future endeavours.



Jenan Abderrahman

Hi, my name is Jenan and I'm an engineer by day and a Zebra coach by night (and weekends)! I am passionate about STEM learning which is why I love teaching at Zebra. I hope to encourage my students' creativity and help them find the joy in learning, inspiring the scientists, programmers, and engineers of tomorrow! When I'm not working you can find me snowboarding and binge-watching TV shows.



Joel McKinney

Coding/Robotics Coach



I am currently a computer science student at NC State. My studies and an internship with Lenovo have taught me a lot about coding, which I am excited to share with others. I joined Zebra Robotics Cary in July 2020 as a coding and robotics instructor. I hope to pass along my love for coding and engineering to my students here at Zebra, as my instructors did for me. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and visiting state and national nature parks.



Lauren Schram

Robotics/Coding Coach


I graduated from University of Central Florida in 2012 with my degree in mechanical engineering. After working as an engineer in the energy industry for 6 years, my husband and I moved to North Carolina. I joined Zebra Robotics Cary in June 2019 as a robotics & coding instructor. At Zebra I am able to combine my passion for teaching and mentoring children with my love for robotics and the fascinating world of STEM. My favorite part of teaching is making that connection with each of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy creating prints with 3D printing, watercolor painting, and salsa dancing.

I am an undergrad student at Ryerson University, I study graphic communication and business management. I am fascinated with the world of STEM; Robotics & Programming have always been a hobby of mine, I enjoy optimizing things to function as efficiently as possible and love being able to impart this interest to students. My hobbies also include writing, basketball, reading, woodworking and guitar.



Osman Bashir

I love to innovate and learn new coding practices daily. I’m highly skilled in executing and completing large projects and turning them into solutions that generate revenue. I graduated from George Brown College with an Advanced Diploma as a Computer Programmer Analyst. After college, I worked in many roles, such as a contract Software Developer and a Back-End Developer for a Marketing company, where I held leadership roles that allowed me to advance my skills. I currently work as a part-time coding coach at Zebra Robotics. I also recently launched my tech consulting business and have over ten clients.



Rajath Subramanyam

My name is Rajath Subramanyam. I’m a first year undergrad student at the University of Toronto (studying Computer Science) . I enjoy coding and teaching children. I started as a student at Zebra Robotics when I was in grade 8 and over the years transitioned to an instructor. Outside of school and work I enjoy spending time with my dog and binging tv, pretty much a regular uni student.



Rajavi Shah

Hi, Im Rajavi and I am the System Analyst during the day and the lead coding coach in the evenings at Zebra Robotics. I hold a masters degree in teaching and a computer science degree which makes working at zebra a perfect combination for me. I am passionate about educating and working with students to bring out their inner programmer, engineer or passion for technology. I hope to bring interest and inspire all students at Zebra to become future leaders in STEM.



Sagar Saha

Coding Coach


I completed my Masters from Sheridan College, specializing in Game Level Design. I have a background in Animation, Video Production and Graphic design as well. I joined Zebra Robotics Mississauga earlier this year as a Coding instructor, teaching HTML and game development in Unity Engine. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and interacting with kids, and I strive to pass on my coding knowledge, passion, as well as propagate their creativity, communication and problem solving skills. In my spare time, I develop indie games, practice photography and compose music on the piano and guitar.



Sahana Subramaniam

Marketing Communications Specialist


I recently completed my post-grad in public relations and corporate communications from Sheridan College, Oakville. I started working with Zebra part-time as a social media strategist and now I work as a marketing communications coordinator. I absolutely love the work environment and communicating and helping the parents have a smoother experience with us. The coaches and students inspire me with their amazing work every day. Apart from marketing and sales, I am really passionate about photography and movies. I also love painting and listening to rock and blues.



Sanjana Parmar

Robotics/Coding Coach


I completed my Master’s from Conestoga College in the field of Robotics and Industrial Automation. I have a background in Electronics and Communication along with this I also have 3 years of experience in coaching and mentoring children in the robotic field. It has now been almost a year in Zebra as a Robotics Coach. Teaching students about robotics and STEM is my passion and I love to inspire and motivate them and also to get back the same as I believe that “learning by doing” lasts forever. The finest part about working in STEM is the constant evaluation in this field for both students as well as coaches. In addition to this, I enjoy cooking, dancing, playing games, organizing events, decorating and many more.

Apart from teaching students how to build and program robots, I am a Research Programmer at York University. During my Engineering (Computer Science), I have competed in many robotics challenges including NASA rover challenge. I love troubleshooting robotics, computer- related issue while teaching and guiding students.



Zimu Li

I got my MS degree in information science from Univerity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. After my graduation, I joined Zebra Robotics as a coding and junior robotics instructor. I also work on our website design and programming. One of the greatest things I enjoy teaching and interacting with kids is to see them having fun with coding and all kinds of STEM activities. I believe programming is a lifelong journey and I'm glad to support my students with their journeys. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, reading, and cooking Chinese food.
