About this camp
The Robotics Engineer I stream introduces students to robot navigation as they move their robots with basic sensors. Students program robots to follow a line with increasing skill and proficiency. Working through hands-on challenges, students also learn the mechanics of manipulating their robots using passive mechanics and gears to transfer power at the right speed and in the right direction. This stream’s interactive challenges develop the skills necessary to participate in robotics competitions.

Robotics Engineer I Bootcamp is a 3-course learning stream. Students progress through each course in order, building new skills as they go.
Course 1 · Robotics Fundamentals(SR420)
In this course, students are introduced to the basic principles of building robots, exploring concepts such as robot anatomy, mobility commands, control statements, and basic navigation. They will construct a rover bot using either LEGO’s SPIKE Prime and experiment with displays and personalization, laying a solid foundation for future exploration.
Grade 4+1–2 weeks
Course 2 · Reactive Robotics(SR440)
More advanced robots use sensors and actuators to interact with their environment and respond to external stimuli. Through guided activities, students in this course will build robots that use touch, colour, and ultrasonic sensors to navigate through challenges as they develop their engineering skills.
Grade 4+1–3 weeks
Course 3 · Smart Robotics Navigation(SR460)
Students in this course learn to navigate robots through guided paths using obstacle avoidance and line following. They design robots that are autonomous and can explore unknown environments as well as detect and adapt to changing conditions. After this course, students may be eligible to join our competition teams.
